Summary
Annual HFRS surveillance datapoint for Shaanxi Province, China's highest-incidence province for HFRS. Cases are dominated by Hantaan virus circulating in Apodemus agrarius, with a smaller Seoul virus contribution in peri-urban settings, and follow a bimodal seasonal pattern with a large November–December peak. Across 2014–2023, China CDC reports 16,164 HFRS cases for Shaanxi (an annual average above 2,000); year-by-year national totals were not extractable from open-access tier-1 sources, so the 2014-only counts here are intentionally left at zero rather than estimated. A separately documented Shaanxi 2021 reference point (Jan 1 – Dec 19, 2021) recorded 2,657 cases and 14 deaths.
