Summary
Chile's Ministry of Health reports 39 confirmed Andes virus (ANDV) cases and 13 deaths through early May 2026 (33% lethality), already exceeding the 2025 full-year total of 44 cases / 8 deaths. Cases are concentrated in central and southern regions, predominantly in men engaged in rural or forestry activities. A nationwide health alert has been in place since January 2026.
