Bichat Hospital (Paris referral centre)

A French national who travelled on the 25 April flight from Saint Helena to Johannesburg (with an infected MV Hondius passenger) developed symptoms and was hospitalised at the Bichat referral hospital in Paris on 6 May. The patient tested NEGATIVE for hantavirus on 8 May 2026. Eight other French contact cases from the flight remain asymptomatic and are isolated for 6 weeks per regional health agencies. Five French passengers remain on board MV Hondius in good health, awaiting repatriation.
